Late Night Snack

You may have noticed that we’re not huge fans of wedding favors…unless they’re edible.  One trend we love is the late night snack in lieu of favors.  It’s usually served around 11:00pm, and it’s usually greasy (or at the very least, bad for you).

There are some options that your caterer will be able to provide, and others that you may be allowed to bring into your venue.

At Oasis Conference Center, we have several late night options.  You want a Cincinnati Chili Bar?  You got it.  We can also put together a Nacho Bar or a Mini Burger Buffet.  One of our favorites is the Ballpark Buffet, which is loaded with soft pretzels and cheese, peanuts, white cheddar popcorn and Crackerjacks.

 Hungry yet?

If your reception venue allows it (and it never hurts to ask), these are some really fun companies who will bring their treats to you.

Taste of Belgium – Liege Waffles made from scratch, available in Cincinnati and Columbus.  Phenomenal…and we hear they ship.

LaRosa’s – Another Cinci favorite.   Who doesn’t want pizza after a long night of partying?

Chocolate Passion – Exactly what it sounds like.  Check out the photos on their site.

Graeter’s – They bring the Sundae Bar to you!  Toppings and all!

Are you thinking about a late night snack at your reception?  We want to hear about it!

Eco Friendly Favors

Sure, “green” weddings seem to be the latest fad, but we don’t think it’s a bad bandwagon to jump on!  For today’s Favor Friday post, we are going to share a few of our favorite green wedding favors.

These coasters are a great option, because bamboo is a sustainable resource, and because your guests might actually use these.  Usually when cleaning up after a wedding reception, we find tons of favors that guests left behind.  We’re guessing most of these would find their way home with your family and friends.

Personalized seed packets and tree seedlings may seem like an obvious choice, but we can’t think of a greener gift!  Just ask your reception venue to gather any that are left so you can make sure they all get planted.  Don’t forget to save one for yourselves to plant in your new home!

Beeswax candles aren’t the most eco-friendly favors we have come across, but they definitely still fit the theme…and they’re cute!

Edible favors.  Need we say more?  We think chocolate speaks for itself, but these chocolate bars from Endangered Species Chocolate are organic and the organization makes a charitable donation for every bar sold.  Love it!

These cute boxes are sustainable, and come empty so you can fill them with something to make them a little more personal.  You could use candies that match your wedding colors, or even seeds that could later be planted.

Let us know if you are giving out other fun eco friendly favors at your reception!

For the most part, couples are still giving favors to their wedding guests.  Sometimes a charitable donation is made in lieu of favors, but we’ll cover those options in another post.  For now, here are a few of the cutest favors we have come across recently:

We have seen the heart stoppers several times, but love the idea of them being paired with the heart corkscrew.  Since these are a little pricier than some favors, it is acceptable to give one out per couple, instead of per person.

If you are going to give out something personalized, guests are usually happier with something they can use versus a trinket that has your name or wedding date on it.  We think these personalized bags of coffee are the perfect solution!

Personalized bottles of water are great for outdoor ceremonies or receptions.  This site has tons of design options to choose from, and we love the nutritional label.

These are stacked cookies, which can be made to replicate your wedding cake.  This sample is from a local bakery, A Spoon Fulla Sugar, (and we can verify that they are not only cute, but taste delicious) but we are guessing that most bakers would be able to do the same for you.

These porcelain holders are the perfect size to hold a little treat at the reception, and then your guests can take them home to be used as tealight holders.  This bride slipped a paper ribbon on each one to double as namecards!

 Happy Shopping!
